Topic: Cement Work Around House Posted: 11 Jun 2007 at 10:38pm
Hi Folks: Im planning to start a project around the house working with concrete. The area is in the back part to the house and the side of the house. When a person enters the gate to our yard there is walkway that measures about 22x3 and there is an area next to this walkway going from the walkway to the side of the house about 12x 19. The existing walkway is only 1 1/2" thick and is cracked all over the place(thus the reason for replacing it). The area around the foundation of the house is more like 4" thick, however, it seems to have sunk almost 2" and is also cracked. The entire area of the walkway and the area around the foundation of the house is about 3" lower than the patio area in the backyard. I would like to do is re-cement the whole area leading to the patio and raise it to be level with the patio area. Ive already begun to break up and remove all of the existing walkway. My Question is: Can I pour cement over the existing cement that is the area next to the foundation of the house and at the same time pour the cement for the new walkway. The whole area would then be flush with the patio area and would be graded to have the rain water roll away from the house. The dimensions of the total area is 15x19x238"(sort of a triangle). Also, I need to know how many yards of cement I would require. If anyone can help with an answer or some advice I would really appreciate it. Please feel free to email me at AOL and I will be looking for replys to this posting ASAP! Thank You, All, for Your Anticipated Help. Truly, JimmyJamzit[8D]
